Out of the many places I visited as a foodie, Veena stores is the one that attracted me a lot. It so happened that I came across this area in the late evening after a boring get together. I was famished in hunger and was waiting to munch something good. I came across this Veena stores and what a huge crowd it was. It is a very small store and the food there was selling like hot cakes. Without a second thought I went ahead and had the available dishes and it was lip-smacking. Another important thing that came to my notice is, they take utmost care about the hygiene of food never mind even if the place is smaller. Located in the busy bee Malleshwaram, this place is worth your money and what more, you can relish the Bengaluru's best tiffin ideas.
Points to remember:
1. Don’t expect any ambience here, but just relish the great food.
2. This small joint is located on the one-way road so you should have the food on the pedestrian path.
3. If you are very diet conscious this place is for you.
4. Be a strict Vegetarian Brahmin coz they avoid onion and garlic
5. Don't ask for sambar, they won't serve it.
The first thing to try here is idlis. They are so soft and almost melt in your mouth along with spicy pudina chutney as they don't provide sambar here. The chutney is not made by using mixer or grinders, but it is ground using the grinding stone so the taste is at its best. The Vadas are very crispy. The other items in this menu are, Upma, Kesari bath and Shavige bath (vermicelli Upma/ Indian Noodles) and they are must try. The Kesari bath is awesome here but I wish it has few tablespoons of ghee lessened in it. Overall this place is heavenly for all foodies and the rice is less with unlimited servings. So check out this place even if you are coming from a morning jog or an evening walk too.Address-
